- The thermostat is the brain of the system. When it tells your air conditioner to run, the air passes through the filter, into the return ducts and over the chilled evaporator coils.

- Next, the conditioned air exits the blower compartment and travels through the supply ducts. Then, the air flows out of the vents and into your living spaces.
