Should My Ductless System Leak Water in Dearing, GA?

While most HVAC systems generate some sort of condensation, significant water leaks typically mean something is wrong. If you notice water coming from the ductless mini-split in your Dearing, GA, home, it’s likely related to one of these three common issues:

Clogged Condensate Line

The condensate line is responsible for carrying water away from your home. However, if the line becomes damaged, frozen or clogged, it won’t be able to do that. Debris that builds up in your condensate line leads to a backup of water, resulting in unsightly puddles in your home.

Since the condensate line sticks out of your home, it’s possible that the line suffers damage or freezes, both of which can lead to water leaks. If the outside end of the condensate line freezes, the line may crack, or it can simply prohibit water from flowing through it.

Damaged Drain Pain

The drain line isn’t the only component responsible for removing the moisture generated by your ductless system. Your drain pan is responsible for collecting water that forms on your coils. If this pan suffers damage, whether through rust or by getting dropped, it creates a path for water to escape the system.

Dirty Air Filter

A dirty air filter will cause dirt to accumulate on the condensate coils. As a result, air cannot flow and your coils will freeze. When your system shuts off and the coils thaw, water drips and causes puddles on the floor. Remember to change your ductless system’s filter every 30-90 days for optimal operation.
